Heavyweight Intermodal
Load heavy at origin.
Stay heavy across the network.
Rail is more than capable of carrying heavyweight loads, but nearly every heavyweight import gets lightened at the last mile because of regulatory weight limits on public highways. The short drive from ramp to warehouse is what forces shippers to load light at origin, split freight across extra containers, or pay for permits and specialized chassis - undoing cost-saving economics before the freight ever reaches a dock door.
A lot of warehouses are near a rail ramp. Ours is connected to one, so you can lock in savings by loading heavy at origin and realize those same savings all the way through to the last mile of delivery.
