West Coast Imports, Heavy All the Way to Texas
An ocean container can be loaded far heavier than a US highway will let you move it. That gap is the single most expensive constraint in West Coast import logistics and most shippers plan around it by simply loading light, which means paying to ship air across the Pacific.
BNSF will carry the weight from San Pedro Bay to Fort Worth, no problem. Constraints come in for the last mile at the other end: the short drive from the inland ramp to a warehouse, on public roads, under state weight law. If you can solve that problem, then shipping heavy becomes the standard.
We Took the Public Road Out of It
Spearpoint's Alliance warehouse connects to the BNSF Alliance Intermodal Facility by private gate and private road. Your container comes off the train and reaches our dock doors without ever touching. a public road, which means it never has to be street-legal.

Barstow: The Next Heavyweight Gateway
BNSF is building the Barstow International Gateway - a 4,500-acre integrated rail facility on the west side of Barstow, approved by the Barstow City Council in June 2026 and targeting a late 2028 opening. Containers will transfer from ships at LA/Long Beach directly to trains via the Alameda Corridor and run up the mainline to Barstow, bypassing LA Basin truck congestion entirely.
Spearpoint's Barstow facility is being built to do there what Alliance does today: give heavyweight import freight a place to land that doesn't require a public road to reach.
